| THE
SITUATION: During a highway construction project an ominus problem of stormwater drainage from a nearby creek had to be addressed. |
THE
SOLUTION: Precast
concrete box culverts were sealed with ConSeal products and installed
with a cast-in-place storm water drain structure to rechannel the
creeks runoff. |
Precast
Application: Box CulvertPrecaster: United Precast ConSeal Products used: (Click on a highlighted link to view more information about a product. ) CS-102 Butyl Rubber Sealant used for the primary seal inside the lap joints of the box culverts. CS-75 Water-Based Primer used to aid installation of the CS-102 joint sealant and CS-212 external joint wrap. The importance of the using the primer with the external joint wrap is to not only promote adhesion during installation process but also to block the porosity of the concrete in order to keep moisture from getting behind the external joint wrap which could cause loss of adhesion of the wrap. CS-212 External Joint Wrap used as additional precaution to prevent possible soil and sediment erosion in the joint area |
